Functional Branding Enters a New Dimension: Belching Beaver Brewery’s Logo Comes to Life and Puts Its Big Buck Teeth to Good Use

A 3D version of the Beaver logo connects the company brand permanently to its craft beer fans—no matter what beverage they need to open.

The Opportunity
The rapidly growing Belching Beaver Brewery had used hand-held bottle openers as an inexpensive branded item to sell in its tasting room, but Steve envisioned something more unique and worked with the BMG Design Team to present the idea of a surface-mounted bottle opener. The toothy beaver in the logo begged to open bottles with his teeth!

The Challenge
The BMG team had to convert the logo to a 3D CAD file to create a tooling cast for the openers in zinc as a true likeness of the logo with an antique silver finish. It needed to open a bottle easily, be cost-effective and deliver in time for the holiday shopping season.

The Solution
BMG presented the idea to the customer and they loved the idea and placed an order for 500 openers. There were a number of manufacturing challenges along the way that the team overcame and they managed to deliver just in time for the holidays.

The Result
The openers were an absolute favorite of Belching Beaver customers and have sold so well that regular re-orders have continued for the past several years.
